BANDA Solid Brass Square Backplate

BANDA Square is a plain backplate with cut square ends, 25mm deep and only 3mm thick, so it sits almost flush behind a knob or a handle without building the front out. The square ends give a harder, more architectural line than the rounded plate, and read as a deliberate rectangle against a shaker rail or a flat slab door.

Six lengths from 148mm on 96mm centres up to 308mm on 256mm centres. The centres match our handles, so a plate can sit behind a bar handle on the same two screws, or carry a single knob at its centre.

Five finishes

Satin Brass is warm and brushed. Antique Brass is darker and browner, and deepens further with use. Matte Black is flat and light-absorbing. White is a clean flat paint that disappears into a pale door. Unlacquered Brass is bare metal with no coating, left to patina naturally with handling.

Square or rounded

The same plate is made with rounded ends as well. Square suits flat slab fronts, in-frame joinery and anything with a strong horizontal line. Rounded softens the same detail and sits more easily on a curved or traditional handle. Both share the identical footprint, so the choice is purely a matter of line.

Where it works

• Behind a knob: turns a single knob into a deliberate detail rather than a lone point on a wide door.
• Behind a bar handle: shares the same centres, so it fits on the existing screws.
• Refits and rentals: covers previous fixing holes without filling and repainting the door.
• Painted and veneered fronts: takes the wear where hands land.
• Mixing finishes: a black or white plate behind a brass knob reads as a deliberate two-tone.

Fitting

The plate is drilled to the stated centres and mounts on the same screws as the knob or handle in front of it. For a single knob, use the centre of the plate. Longer screws may be needed to allow for the extra 3mm.
